Comsearch Again Manages Spectrum At International CTIA WIRELESS 2011

HICKORY, NC, March 14, 2011

For the 14th year in a row, Comsearch, a CommScope company, will serve as official spectrum manager for the International CTIA WIRELESS 2011® trade show and conference, taking place March 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. Comsearch will manage spectrum for exhibitor demonstrations and local wireless operators.

The greater channel bandwidths that exhibitors are requesting to support new broadband technologies along with the usual anticipated increase in spectrum demands from attendees are the primary challenges that Comsearch is helping remedy.

“This year’s show has required some interesting engineering solutions, but we expect a smooth running show with unimpeded demos and uninterrupted services for local operators,” said Chris Hardy, vice president, Comsearch.

Comsearch® has served as CTIA WIRELESS spectrum manager for almost 15 years, ensuring that the radio frequencies used in demonstrations by show exhibitors do not interfere with each other or other licensed wireless operations in the area. The company coordinates with area licensees, manages frequency use among exhibitors, conducts pre-show testing, and monitors on-site signals for interference.

“Comsearch’s services are a staple in our trade show preparation plan,” said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA. “We rely on Comsearch to successfully manage spectrum to ensure an interference-free show for the thousands of attendees who come to North America’s largest wireless event.”

Among the unique challenges of this year’s show is the likelihood of more LTE demonstrations than in past years, with many exhibitors requesting larger portions of channel bandwidth. Meeting those demands is complicated by local operators using more bandwidth for their everyday service offerings. However, Comsearch has made extensive plans to ensure that exhibitors have access to wireless spectrum and local service operators will not suffer any interference issues.

For more than three decades, Comsearch has been a pre-eminent global provider of spectrum management and wireless engineering products and services. Comsearch has developed industry-standard interference analysis and mitigation processes and procedures and maintains state-of-the-art software and comprehensive databases used in the design of complex wireless systems. The company offers commercial and government customers innovative solutions to the challenges posed by 21st century wireless deployments.
