Microwave 101 Webinar Series

Comsearch's Microwave 101 Webinar Series

Microwave Fundamentals Part I | Thursday, May 23, 2024, 1:00 PM EDT | Duration: 1 hour
Speaker: Comsearch’s Joe Marzin (Technology Group Director)
Summary: This webinar covers RF propagation concepts for the transmission of a microwave signal from one endpoint to another. The behavior of the signal is broken down into various concepts of path loss to include free space path loss, atmospheric absorption, diffraction, and refraction. The concepts of diffraction and refraction lead to the development of the parameters Fresnel Zone and K-factor, or effective earth radius factor. These are key components in the evaluation of microwave path clearance. These key concepts and parameters help to understand path design criteria and fading characteristics of microwave paths. Microwave Fundamentals Part II | Thursday, June 27, 2024, 1:00 PM EDT | Duration: 1.5 hours
Speakers: Comsearch’s Joe Marzin (Technology Group Director) and Peter Xu (Product Support Engineer)
Summary: This presentation will provide an understanding of microwave path reliability and how factors such as antenna size, radio transmit power, terrain, path length, rain, climate can affect the overall availability. Strategies for designing microwave paths to overcome common problems including multipath and rain will also be offered. This session will conclude with a live demonstration of our iQ.link® Microwave Design Software. REGISTER

Understanding the Frequency Coordination Process | Thursday, July 25, 2024, 1:00 PM EDT | Duration: 1.5 hours
Speaker: Comsearch’s Greg Macey (Microwave Manager)

Summary: Interference Analysis — Sources of potential interference, from both point to point and earth station operators | Detailed examples of interference calculations. Frequency Planning & Protection — Frequency coordination process | Establishment of high/low plans at sites and “bucking” | Analysis results and mitigation techniques | FCC licensing process. This session includes a live demonstration of our Comsearch Connect—Customer Portal. We conclude the session with important FCC Regulatory Updates. REGISTER
