Five-Step Design Process
Have You Considered 39 GHz Lately?

Step 1: Feasibility Analysis

The feasibility analysis is necessary to determine whether 39 GHz spectrum meets your location and distance criteria. You will need to complete the following:

  • Verify that your project is within the shaded area of the coverage map. These are areas where 39 GHz spectrum may be available to you.
  • Verify that you have line-of-sight between your two locations.
  • Compare your required distance with the maximum allowed distance based on your reliability requirements and your rain region. If you know the exact latitude and longitude of each location, you can determine the path distance, in miles and kilometers, between locations. You can then compare that value to the maximum length of the link in our distance/reliability chart. You will need to know the required reliability and your Crane rain region.

Step 2: Equipment Selection

Locate manufacturers who provide a wide variety of high quality equipment. View our list of equipment manufacturers.

Step 3: Transmission Capacity Agreement

A transmission capacity agreement is an agreement with a holder of 39 GHz spectrum to utilize this spectrum. A transmission capacity agreement can be completed within a few days of your request. Contact a Comsearch representative to fill out this agreement or to request additional information.

Step 4: Frequency Coordination

Frequency coordination is included as a free service as part of the Transmission Capacity Agreement. We will perform the FCC-mandated requirements for coordination and notification to assure your system is free from interference. The length of time to conduct the frequency coordination will typically range from two to 15 days depending on the specific link.

To learn more about the coordination process, go to our Industry Studies page to download our white paper on Fundamentals of Microwave Frequency Coordination.

Step 5: Installation & Testing

Comsearch can provide turnkey installation and testing services for rapid deployment of your system. These services include radio installation, antenna assembly and installation, and test plan development. Strict adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements in addition to RF safety standards are ensured.

  • Radio Installation, Testing and Commissioning Field personnel install radio equipment according to site drawings and vendor installation procedures. We conduct testing to ensure proper operation of the radio equipment according to manufacturer specifications. We may conduct additional tests as required to ensure proper radio performance.
  • Antenna Installation and Alignment We assemble, mount, and align antenna systems according to design specifications.
  • Cabling and Grounding We install and connect all cabling and grounding.
