Frequently Asked Questions |
- What is a transmission capacity agreement?
- A transmission capacity agreement is an agreement between First Avenue Networks and the customer to use a portion of the licensed 39 GHz frequency granted to First Avenue by the FCC. It is very similar in nature to using a portion of a fiber optic link over which excess capacity is available.
- What is the term of the agreement?
- The agreement term for a transmission capacity agreement is typically five years. Longer or shorter terms can be arranged.
- How do I know if spectrum is available in my area?
- First Avenue holds licenses that cover 99.99% of the U.S. so it is highly likely that capacity is available. Further, First Avenue is working to achieve 100% availability.
- What must I do to comply with FCC rules?
- With the exception of posting the license at the transmission site, all FCC compliance is handled by First Avenue Networks.
- Are there any restrictions on how many links I can utilize?
- Individual customer networks implemented under this agreement are limited to a total of 15 links within each regional area (also called a Basic Economic Area or "BEA"). Additional links will be priced on an individual case basis. Contact us for more information.
- Does a customer get to use both polarities on that particular channel?
- No, use of both polarities to establish two links will be priced as two links.
- What if I need to move the radios or the link before the expiration of the agreement?
- If a customer wants to move the radios or the link, that customer must forgo the past agreement, enter into a new agreement and pay a new fee. If transmission capacity is available, First Avenue will enter into a new agreement on the same terms as the original agreement.
- What about roof rights?
- The issue of roof rights varies depending upon building owner. Many building owners see the benefits of making their roof space available to accommodate telecommunications infrastructure. While First Avenue does not get involved in negotiating roof rights, we will supply you with supporting documentation to negotiate roof rights on your own behalf.
