This tour guides you through an interference analysis for a new MAS facility. If you are modifying an existing MAS facility, you would locate the facility in our database and proceed to step 2.
You can create a new MAS site, modify an existing MAS site, or search for an MAS design in progress.
A Quick Look is a simple analysis performed to tell you if any frequencies are available for your proposed MAS facility, and in which portions of the MAS spectrum these frequencies are located. You need only enter the latitude, longitude, and operation mode (fixed or mobile) of your proposed facility, and MAS Express analyzes the location against all MAS facilities in the area and tells you how many frequencies are available.
The Quick Look results list the number of frequencies available in each MAS band. You can then proceed with a Full Analysis that allows you to view specific frequencies and assign them to your MAS facility.
A Full Analysis is more detailed than the Quick Look. It tells you which specific frequencies are available for operation of your MAS system. The Full Analysis analyzes your proposed MAS facility against all MAS systems within the search radius and allows you to assign frequencies and create documentation to obtain an FCC license. You need only enter a few additional fields: Operation Mode, Design Name, Site Name, and Radio Service Code. Once you have created a design, it will be saved and can be retrieved at a later date using the Design Name.
Frequencies are defined by and grouped into six different categories represented in pick list drop down menu as follows: Eligible and Available, Eligible and Short-Spaced, Ineligible and Available, Ineligible and Short-Spaced, Grandfathered and Available, and Grandfathered and Short-Spaced. The default pick list setting is Eligible and Available. For each individual MAS frequency regardless of the pick list setting, MAS Express tells you the distance of the closest two co-channel facilities and the closest two adjacent-channel facilities, and has a Detail link for more information such as licensee(s). It ranks frequencies from top to bottom in the list based upon closest co-channel distance conflict. Sometimes, there may not be any frequencies available under the "Eligible and Available" setting. If this is the case, examine potential frequency options using the "Eligible and Short-Spaced" setting to determine the best frequency. The best channel pair is usually the one that would offer the best compromise of adequate co-channel distance separation in conjunction with the least amount of incumbent licensees to arrange a "short-space" with. Short-Spacing requires a written agreement between the incumbent licensee and the incoming licensee that will need to be included with your FCC filing. Comsearch has examples of such agreements upon request.
Select up to four 12.5 kHz frequency pairs from any category, if frequencies are available. Waivers or Short-Spacing Agreements may be required for certain categories.
After selecting frequencies, you will see a summary screen listing all fields that you entered, as well as the frequencies that you selected. You will need to complete several additional fields. These include Licensee Information, State, Ground Elevation, Antenna Information for Master and Remote, Radio Information for Master and Remote, and Transmit Power for Master and Remote. Note: Your licensee, antenna, and radio information must be retrieved from our database. If the information is not in our database, you can request that it be added. For Ground Elevation, use the search feature to retrieve the value from our terrain database.
Click on the link labeled Create Supplemental Showing for filing the FCC license. Note: Once you create the Supplemental Showing, you will no longer be able to retrieve or edit your MAS design without starting a new transaction. Therefore, you must download your Supplemental Showing immediately.
Once you create the Supplemental Showing, you will no longer be able to retrieve or edit your MAS design without starting a new transaction. Therefore, you must download your data sheet and supplemental showing immediately. Because MAS spectrum is licensed on a first-come first-served basis, Comsearch recommends filing your MAS application with the FCC as soon as possible.
