Trade Shows Frequency Coordination
Managing Spectrum for Wireless Demonstrations at Industry Events

  Industry Solutions

A growing number of trade show exhibitors are demonstrating wireless products, many with common and conflicting spectrum needs. Minimizing interference conflicts between multiple wireless devices vying for the same spectrum provides a quality experience for both exhibitors and attendees and is crucial to the success of wireless trade shows.

Comsearch has been helping trade show organizers manage their spectrum needs since 1997. As the "Official Frequency Coordinator" for the CTIA Wireless shows, Comsearch's proven expertise and experience enables exhibitors to demonstrate their devices without the threat of causing or receiving harmful RF interference. While spectrum needs have grown over the years and the availability of usable spectrum has diminished, we have been successful in engineering unique solutions to make it all work together.

Many exhibitors require use of spectrum already owned and/or in use by an incumbent licensee. Comsearch works directly with those licensees to determine what spectrum is available for use during the show. It is only after this coordination effort that exhibitors are eligible to operate their demonstrations on the occupied frequencies.

Contact Comsearch today at customersupport@comsearch.com or 1.800.318.1234 to learn more about effective spectrum management for wireless demonstrations at your events.

Our frequency coordination process begins approximately 3–4 months prior to the event, culminating with our presence at the show.

Pre-Show Frequency Coordination

  • Exhibitors register wireless devices that will be demonstrated and operated on the exhibit floor.
  • Comsearch recommends frequencies that may avoid harmful interference to other exhibitors and licensed wireless operations in the vicinity of the event location.
  • Comsearch utilizes our engineering expertise coupled with our industry-acclaimed comprehensive databases and tools, as well as our long-standing relationships with licensees, to recommend and coordinate spectrum usage between the exhibitors and the licensed incumbent operators.
On-Site Interference Monitoring Before and During the Show
  • Comsearch engineers will perform on-site interference monitoring to identify any incumbent carrier signals and undesired emissions.
  • Comsearch verifies that all exhibitors power-up their demonstrations to verify each is operating in accordance with the assigned channel plans.
  • During the first hours of the show, our engineers will identify any additional RF signals and crosscheck those signals with the list of registered exhibitors that plan to transmit.
  • Comsearch engineers continuously perform spectrum sweeps during the event and quickly address and resolve anomalies.

  • Company stability and size - we have been in business 30+ years with the vast majority of the staff having over 9 years tenure at Comsearch.
