Comsearch Awarded NPR Contract to Register and Protect PRSS Earth Terminals with the FCC
Services help to protect stations against potentially costly terrestrial interference

Orland Park, IL. Comsearch, an Andrew company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the National Public Radio (NPR) to be part of their nationwide Earth Terminal Refurbishment Program (ETRP).

Through this program, NPR is upgrading their entire Public Radio Satellite System (PRSS). All major satellite hardware at each receive location is being examined to ensure up-to-date standards are being met. As part of this effort, Comsearch will evaluate each satellite receive station, validate the site data, and act on the licensee's behalf to ensure long-term interference protection. Comsearch will analyze the current RF interference environment for digital reception criteria and for access to all satellites in the domestic arc or, at a minimum, all existing and back-up public radio satellites. Additionally, Comsearch will coordinate, license, and provide on-going frequency protection services for each station.

"As the industry leader in spectrum management, Comsearch is well positioned to meet the requirements for ensuring that PRSS earth terminals are accurately and effectively coordinated, registered, and protected," said Chris Hardy, Vice President and General Manager of Comsearch. "As new and expanded services compete for spectrum and as systems are upgraded and migrate to digital technology, it is critical that public radio stations act to prevent interference from existing and adjacent bands. We are excited about this opportunity to work closely with NPR and their affiliates on this important initiative."
