Comsearch Announces the Sale of iQ·link To A Fifth Vodafone Company
Premier Microwave Network Design Tool
Continues To Be First Choice Of Leading Global Operators
ASHBURN, VA - Comsearch, an Allen Telecom company (NYSE: ALN), announced today the sale of its premier microwave path design software tool to support Vodafone's GSM network in Egypt. iQ·link is currently licensed to four other Vodafone entities with multiple platforms deployed across Europe.
iQ·link is the industry-leading spectrum allocation and engineering software tool that supports the end-to-end design of fixed microwave networks. The tool is a proven and trusted engineering product for path clearance, reliability predictions, and fast, accurate interference analysis assessments, having been used to place more than 200,000 microwave links into production worldwide. Designed by microwave engineers for microwave engineers, the software tool incorporates the ability to analyze per-exposure, cumulative and near-field effects to quickly and easily find channels that are free of conflicts, even in congested networks consisting of tens of thousands of microwave paths. Path outage algorithms utilize the latest ITU recommendations. iQ·link also incorporates GIS interfaces to display an entire network and iQ·link readily interfaces with other software packages, insuring the integrity of critical data elements. Planned future iQ·link enhancements include a remote, subscription-based access-via the Internet-eliminating capital expenditures for Unix Platforms and providing clients "any-time, any-where" access to iQ·link's advanced network design capabilities.
Vodafone Egypt, previously called Misrfone, was founded in November 1998 as an international consortium to establish and operate a GSM radio network across Egypt. Vodafone Egypt's major shareholder is Vodafone, the world's largest mobile communications company serving in 30 countries bearing more than 200 million customers. Being an Egyptian operator with broad local experience and possessing cutting-edge technology, Vodafone Egypt provides a variety of advanced, pioneering and world-class mobile services to the Egyptian market.
"As has been proven by Vodafone entities throughout Europe, iQ·link provides rapid path design, complete interference analysis and world-class support," said Yasser Abouelenein, Network Access Transmission Manager for Vodafone, Egypt. "iQ·link is the most complete, comprehensive network design tool based on its ability to maintain our expansive network growth, easily integrate into our existing design processes and expand with future network enhancements."
"We are pleased that Vodafone Egypt has decided to join the ranks of the other Vodafone companies in selecting iQ·link as their network design tool. The addition of this Vodafone company reinforces our confidence in iQ·link's superiority across the globe," said Bruce Eley, European Business Manager for Comsearch.
