Comsearch Awarded Subcontract From MITRE Corporation For Low Power FM Radio Station Interference Study
Experimental Program Will Examine the effects of Low Power FM (LPFM) Stations on Existing FM Radio Stations Within Third-Adjacent Channel Area.

ASHBURN, VA - Comsearch, an Allen Telecom company (NYSE: ALN), announced today that it has been awarded a subcontract agreement from The MITRE Corporation (MITRE) to conduct an independent experimental program (study and evaluation) to examine the effects of LPFM radio stations operating on third-adjacent channels to existing FM radio stations.

The MITRE Corporation was selected by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish, monitor and report results of the experimental program to Congress and the nation. Comsearch participated in MITRE's competitive bidding process to select an impartial subcontractor to conduct the testing and analysis necessary to determine whether interference conditions will be created to FM broadcasts from the operation of the LPFM stations. Using metrics developed by MITRE, Comsearch's initial role will be to plan and conduct LPFM field tests and obtain RF signal measurements to assess the levels of interference caused by LPFM stations to receivers that are tuned to existing full-power FM stations.

"Comsearch has been providing spectrum allocation and management solutions to the wireless industry for more than a quarter century," said Dave Donohoe, Vice President, Engineering Solutions for Comsearch. "The scope of our subcontracting role for The MITRE Corporation is exactly inline with our core capabilities and expertise, which will ensure the integrity of this project."
