Comsearch Expands its IQ·Link Software Platform With Ericsson
Product to Support Spain’s Amena GSM1800 Network Design
RESTON, VA - Comsearch announced today that it has increased the licensing of its premier microwave path design software, IQ·Link®, to Ericsson in a deal valued at over $250k per year in software licenses and support.
Comsearch's IQ·Link product is also being used by Ericsson in Spain to provide delivery and roll-out for the GSM1800 network of Spain's third largest mobile operator, Amena. The network buildout of Amena covers the majority of Spain with design concentrated around the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Valladolid, Zaragoza and Bilbao.
IQ·Link is a comprehensive engineering software tool that performs complex spectrum allocation and frequency engineering for hundreds of microwave links easily, including multiple link scenarios. The tool enables a customer to display GIS data, perform path and reliability calculations, and conduct fast, comprehensive interference analyses in order to have a complete solution for the planning and designing of point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and wireless local loop networks.
"We are very pleased that Ericsson in Spain has chosen to extend the number of software licenses of our IQ·Link product currently being used to provide network design for Amena," said David Donohoe, vice president of Information Services at Comsearch. "Our microwave planning software has a proven track record of providing the necessary design tools that have enabled Ericsson to roll-out Amena's network quickly and efficiently."
"Ericsson has chosen IQ·Link as its preferred microwave planning tool due to the product's ability to handle a large number of microwave links in an efficient, stable and robust manner. Ericsson now has over 3000 microwave links in Spain in five regions using a central database," said Steve Meador, IQ·Link product manager at Comsearch.
